I am meeting with John Allen this week to work on scarf designs for his upcoming clothing line, Kirti Kathmandu. The garments will be produced in Nepal utilizing sustainably cultivated raw materials, traditional textile and ornament motifs with local craftsmanship. I am in the process of researching Tibetan iconography and pattern options. I’ve not found the sort of color palettes and textile combinations I’m drawn to in the local shops, but these samples will help me in the drafting process. What’s best, a portion of the profits will help educate and provide safe living conditions for the children of Nepal. I can’t think of a more worthwhile cause!
