My mom's in town visiting from Memphis. Talks of magic and dreams, past lives and treasures. And collecting.
I've been thinking a lot about Milan Kundera's novel, Ignorance. Irena left Prague during the revolution only to return briefly twenty years later. It's about her desire to tell her story, for others to be interested and to listen. She thought of their disinterest of her past and the person she's become as a sort of amputation - she felt shortened, diminished, like a dwarf.
